Sixth Street between Boulder and Cheyenne avenues is undergoing a change as a result of the new Oneok tower (left) and parking garage (right). In 1980, work began on demolishing four buildings in the block bounded by Fifth and Sixth streets and Cheyenne and Boulder avenues. These included the Skaggs Drug Building (northeast corner), Arcade Building (southeast corner), YWCA Building (northwest corner) and the Continental Trailways bus station (southwest corner). On the right, a parking lot was removed, and work is under way on building a parking garage at that location. The outer lanes of Sixth Street have been closed for the duration of the building projects, which began in 1981. Some temporary traffic signals also have been installed at both Sixth Street intersections. This view looks east from near Denver Avenue. Photograph taken Jan. 30, 1983.
