Demolition is under way on the Boulder Avenue bridge over the Burlington Northern Railroad, as shown in this view looking southeast. The north half of the bridge is gone, and work is under way on removing the south half, although it appears that the abutment walls will remain. The bridge has been dormant for several years, as it was closed to vehicles in 1998 and later to pedestrians. According to reports, the old bridge is being demolished because of safety issues, but a new bridge will not be built for several years. In recent years, signs had been posted under the bridge advising people not to park under it because a piece of the bridge could fall onto their cars. Eventually, these areas were blocked off. The new bridge will be funded by the 2006 sales tax and 2008 bond issue. Photograph taken July 4, 2009.
