A rehabilitation project is neraing completion at Admiral Place and Garnett Road that will conclude with the installation of a new signal. The intersection originally had four signal poles that contained two lights apiece for two directions. For example, a pole on the southeast corner contained signals for southbound and eastbound traffic, another pole in the median contained the other two signals, etc. The present system was installed in the late 1970s but did not have left-turn signals on Admiral Place until the 2000s. There as a northbound left-turn lane on Garnett Road but no signal. The intersection recently was rehabilitated and resurfaced, and new signals soon will be installed. The Village Cinema once was located on the southwest corner (slightly south on Garnett Road), but it closed many years ago. Photograph taken December 2010.
