This intersection was widened in 2002, making it the last major intersection to be widened on 71st Street in Tulsa. The intersection was widened as part of the six-laning project on 71st Street between the Mingo Valley Expressway and Garnett Road. The intersection has a left-turn lane on each approach and a separate right-turn lane for northbound traffic. Eastbound traffic also has a right-turn lane, which actually is the third eastbound through lane on 71st Street. Since Broken Arrow only widened 71st Street to four through lanes, the third eastbound through lane becomes a right-turn lane. Traffic congestion is much reduced at the intersection, and it will be better following the completion of widening Garnett Road between 61st and 71st streets, a project being built by Tulsa County.
