This view shows 61st Street looking west from the Joe Creek bridge area. McClure Elementary School is on the left. At right is a gated residential area known as Garden Park. The 61st Street entrance is closed, and all traffic must enter the establishment from 59th Street. Traffic volumes sometimes can be heavy along this section of 61st Street, as motorists eventually have to travel 61st Street to reach the southern end of Riverside Drive, which bends into 61st Street (and vice versa). A 1983 bond issue project will extend Riverside Drive to 81st Street, but that project still is several years away. Photograph taken August17, 1983.
