Traffic flow has increased at 61st Street and Mingo Road, with most directions having heavy flow in the afternoons. No widening projects have been funded. A new traffic signal with pedestrian lights was installed in 1985, and this signal should remain until the intersection eventually is widened, at which time a traffic signal with left-turn arrows will be installed. This intersection does not have any no-left-turn signs, which indicates that traffic hasn't reached severe levels - yet. Traffic volumes likely will increase in a few years following the opening of the Mingo Valley Expressway from 51st to 71st streets. Photograph taken April 1986.
