Until 1982, this intersection was a four-way stop sign. At that time, this traffic signal was installed to assist with growing traffic volumes in the area. This view, looking east, shows traffic on 61st Street passing through the intersection, which isn't heavily developed. A Quik Trip store is on the southwest corner, and a couple of small businesses are on other corners. Several houses remain along 61st Street to the east. Within a few years, the Mingo Valley Expressway will pass about a half mile east of this intersection. Photograph taken January 1985.
