              An interim widening project in 1993 was the precursor for a major widening project built in 1998 at 51st Street and 129th East Avenue. The major project widened the north and east apporaches of the intersection to four lanes with left- and right-turn lanes on each approach. 129th East Avenue was widened to five lanes between 51st and 49th streets to accommodate the new State Farm headquarters, and a traffic signal with left-turn signals was installed at the State Farm entrance. Fifty-First Street also was widened to five lanes between 129th and 135th East avenues. Following completion of the intersection, the Broken Arrow Expressway was widened to eight lanes through the area, which included new bridges over 51st Street and 129th East Avenue. A 2001 sales tax project will widen 129th East Avenue to five lanes between 41st and 49th streets. The project likely will be built in the mid 2000s. Photograph taken August 2003.
