Traffic flow has improved substantially at 41st Street and Garnett Road following a widening project that expanded the intersection to four lanes with left- and right-turn lanes on each approach. The section of 41st Street between the Mingo Valley Expressway and Garnett Road was widened to four lanes with an alternating left-turn median. Garnett Road was widened to four lanes between 38th and 41st streets, including a new bridge over a Mingo Creek tributary. Funded by the 1983 bond issue, construction began in January 1986 and was completed in October 1986. Circle K has replaced Fina, which earlier replaced Champlin. Photograph taken April 1987.
