The new Garnett Road bridge is open, and work is under way on removing the old detour west of the bridge. Traffic presently is traveling a two-lane asphalt road on the northbound side of the bridge. The road will be repaved with concrete in the latter stages of the project, and the concrete will extend a short distance north of the bridge before the pavement converts to asphalt and narrows to two lanes.
