Traffic recently was switched to the eastbound lanes of 31st Street, which has allowed work to begin on the westbound lanes between Memorial Drive and 99th East Avenue. The old pavement has been removed, and dirt work is under way. The road project is scheduled for completion by the end of 1983. At right, a gap can be seen in the curbing on the new eastbound lanes, with the Memorial Drive approach curbing in the foreground and the curbing for the new section of 31st Street a littler further east. The gap will be eliminated after the 31st Street and Memorial Drive intersection is revised, as the new alignment will match the curbing on the new section of 31st Street. This photograph was taken Sepember 9, 1983.
