Paving is under way on the westbound right-turn lane at 31st Street and Memorial Drive, as shown in this view looking east from the intersection's northwest corner. The lane has been paved from the end of the earlier 31st Street widening project to near the intersection, where dirt and storm sewer work continue. The paving of this lane eliminates the dog-leg in the curbing that existed upon completion of the earlier widening project in 1983. Previously, upon approaching Memorial Drive from the east, the curbs on the new street were wider than the original intersection because of the upcoming improvements in this project. Now, the curbs will connect and be continuous. This photograph was taken October 12, 1985.
