The section of 129th East Avenue at I-44 has a gap, as the roadway still needs to be rebuilt in the vicinity of I-44. The right angle on the northbound side (where the lane abruptly ends and the curb goes due west a short distance to the narrower alignment) shows where the roadway's alignment will go upon completion of the I-44 intersection. A similar situation exists on the north side of I-44, where the outer lanes do not directly connect with a continuous lane through the interchange. The situation will be resolved when I-44 is widened through this area in the early 1990s. The bridges will be replaced, and 129th East Avenue will be widened at I-44 to provide continuous lanes through the area. This photograph was taken October 1, 1988.
