Traffic on 129th East Avenue has been switched to the new southbound lanes between 11th and 21st streets, which means that the first mile of the widening project is entering its second phase. The old northbound lanes soon will be rebuilt. Like 21st Street, the approaches at the 11th Street intersection also are concrete. However, the street between 11th and 21st streets is asphalt with a concrete curb and gutter. The temporary traffic signal's cables are attached to green poles that formerly were used for permanent traffic signals at other intersections. This photograph was taken October 31, 1987.
