The 41st Street bridge over I-44 is complete, and traffic has returned to normal at the site. Compared to the old bridge, which was four spans with three piers, the new bridge is two spans with one pier (in the median) that will allow the interstate to be widened to six lanes through the area without additional work on the bridge. Completion of the 41st Street bridge marks an end to construction on I-44 for the time being. According to reports, no contracts have been scheduled for any projects related to widening the highway from the Arkansas River to the I-244 east interchange. The Drury Inn can be seen adjacent to the eastbound frontage road, and the restaurant adjacent to it originally was a Sambo's. Photograph taken July 1986.
