Earl and Charlie Beardsley stand outside their shoe store, B.B. Shoes, at 302 South Main Street, circa 1910. According to Ms. Virginia Ross, Mr. Earl Beardsley eventually sold the store sometime after 1918 and moved back to his native Stronghurst, Illinois. He later drowned when a freak storm struck while he and a group of men were duck hunting on the Mississippi River.
