Looking east toward Denver Avenue on 11th Street. 11th Street was US Route 66 at the time. Denver Avenue was US Highway 64 and Oklahoma Highway 51. Edewinns Delicatessen appears on the north (left) side of 11th. Beginning in 1948, Edewinns is listed in Polk's Tulsa City Directory at 307 West 11th Street. Crown Drug Company also appears on the north (left) side of 11th Street, just west of Denver Avenue. Beyond Crown Drug, the Lorraine Apartment Building appears on the northeast corner of 11th and Denver.
The First Church of Christ, Scientist domed building at the northwest corner of 11th and Boulder is visible in the distance beyond the Lorraine.
A Safeway grocery store was on the south (right) side of 11th Street, just west of Denver Avenue. Safeway is listed at that location in the 1954 Tulsa City Directory. A corner of the Safeway building and its parking area north of the building appear at the right side of the photograph.
The Bowen (Grill) Lounge appears at the southeast corner of 11th and Denver. The Tower (motion picture) Theatre was in the next building to the south (right) of Bowen Lounge.
The house at 1107 South Denver Avenue appears to the south (right) of the Tower Theatre, and the north side of the Alden Apartments appears to the south of the house at the far right edge of the photograph. A portion of the First Methodist Church building is visible in the background, at the southeast corner of 11th and Boulder.
