Street scene looking south from the front of the J.M. Hall Store, halfway between the Frisco Railroad tracks and 1st Street. The New State Hotel, on the right, was built by J.M. Hall. The building with the cupola, on the left, was the Vandever Building. The building under construction (2nd story framing and window frames are visible), on the left, was the Archer Building. The building commemorated the the life of Thomas Jefferson Archer, an early Tulsa merchant. Archer's store exploded when a stray bullet ignited the powder stacks. He died a month later as the result of his massive burns.
